Daniel B. Spagnoli, DDS, PhD, Oral Surgeon - Charlotte, Concord, and Denver, North CarolinaDr. Spagnoli graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College with a Bachelor's degree in biology and a minor in chemistry in 1974. He received his Master's degree in anatomy at West Virginia School of Medicine in 1977 and his Ph.D. in anatomy from West Virginia University School of Medicine in 1980. He completed a post doctorate fellowship in cell biology at the University of Pittsburgh in 1982 and graduated from West Virginia School of Dentistry in 1985. He completed residency training in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Louisiana State University in 1989. He has been a section editor of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Knowledge Update Textbook since 1992 and has been the editor of the oral and maxillofacial surgery section of the Cleft Palate Journal since 1998.

Dr. Spagnoli continues to be active in research and has recently completed four research projects, three of which deal with the use of human recombinant bone morphogenetic protein as a graft for maxillofacial bone defects. The other project is related to understanding the efficacy of total temporomandibular joint implants.

Dr. Spagnoli enjoys direct patient care as well as understanding of the science and biology that is the foundation for the surgery that we provide. His particular interests include all aspects of TM joint treatment and surgery, reconstructive procedures of the oral and maxillofacial region including bone grafting, distraction Osteogenesis, dental implants and orthognathic surgery. Dr. Spagnoli has published numerous book chapters and research articles related to oral and maxillofacial surgery and basic science and has lectured extensively in the United States and in Europe.
